Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how No Cap Bible ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
Some of the information described in this Privacy Policy may be linked to your app session, subscription status, or internal identifiers when used to provide app functionality, personalization, cloud sync, sharing, and support.
Information we collect
1. Information you provide directly
When you complete the onboarding process, we collect:
- Basic profile information: Name, age
- Personalization preferences: Your relationship with faith, what you find challenging about the Bible, and what you're looking for in the app
- Notification preferences: Whether you enable notifications, frequency (notifications per day), and preferred time windows
- Premium subscription data: Information about your subscription status
- Support communications: If you contact us or send a report, we may receive the message content and technical details you choose to send, such as app version, device model, iOS version, and related diagnostics
2. Information automatically collected
- Device and app information: Limited technical information such as platform, app version, device model, operating system version, and app state needed to run the App, support subscriptions, and operate cloud-connected features
- Identifiers: Internal user IDs, account/session identifiers, and subscription-related identifiers used to support app functionality, cloud sync, public sharing, and subscription state
- Usage data: Information about your interactions with the App, such as onboarding selections, Favorites activity, verse activity, notification settings, sharing actions, and progress-related data used to provide core app features
- Purchase information: Subscription and payment data processed through Adapty and Apple's payment systems
3. Information stored locally on your device
The following data may be stored locally on your device to operate the app and preserve your preferences:
- Your profile information, such as your name and age
- Your onboarding and personalization preferences, including your relationship with faith, what you find challenging about the Bible, and what you are looking for in the app
- Your favorite verses and related Favorites order
- Your verse activity, such as viewed verses and reading progress
- Your streak and daily progress history
- Your notification preferences, including whether notifications are enabled, how many you receive per day, and your selected time window
- Your app appearance preferences, such as selected wallpaper, app icon, and text style settings
- Limited app state data used to support core functionality, such as free daily verse limits, saved daily content, and notification template caching
How we use your information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Service delivery: To provide you with the verse feed, interpretations, favorites, and notifications based on your preferences
- Product personalization: To tailor content, onboarding, and in-app experience based on your selected preferences
- Customer support: To respond to your feedback and support requests
- Subscription management: To process and manage your premium subscription
- Reliability and security: To maintain app functionality, session continuity, cloud sync, and account security
- Communication: To send you important service-related updates, where applicable
Legal basis for processing (EU/EEA users)
If you are located in the European Union or the European Economic Area, we process your personal data on the following legal bases under Article 6 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Performance of a contract: Processing necessary to provide the App's core features, including verse delivery, personalization, cloud sync, notifications, and subscription management.
- Legitimate interests: Processing necessary for app security, fraud prevention, support communications, and improving reliability — where our interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
- Consent: Where you have given explicit consent, such as by enabling optional sharing features. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us or adjusting your in-app settings, where available.
For refund-related data sharing with Apple (described in our Terms of Use, Section 7.5), we rely on legitimate interests in protecting revenue from fraudulent refund requests, balanced against the limited nature of the data shared and your rights under applicable law.
Cloud sync and public sharing
Some features of the App use cloud services to keep your experience working across sessions and to enable optional sharing.
- Cloud sync: When cloud features are activated, we may store profile information, selected preferences, favorite verse IDs, seen verse counts, and streak-related data in Supabase.
- Anonymous cloud account: The App may create an internal anonymous cloud account or session to support cloud features, syncing, and sharing functionality.
- Public sharing: If you choose to enable sharing, your selected Favorites may be published through a public link that can be viewed by anyone who has that link.
- Shared page details: A shared page may include your selected display name snapshot, the title of the shared page, your selected favorite verses, and formatting preferences such as lowercase mode.
- Control: You can disable public sharing in the App. Once disabled, the public link should no longer display your shared Favorites, although cached or previously accessed copies outside our control may still persist temporarily.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services that may collect information:
Adapty
- Purpose: Subscription management, purchase validation, restore flows, and related subscription infrastructure (including optional refund-related tooling offered by Adapty)
- Data shared: App user identifier, purchase information, subscription status, and related subscription metadata used to unlock and restore paid features
- Privacy policy: https://adapty.io/privacy
Supabase
- Purpose: Backend infrastructure for cloud sync, account/session handling, public sharing, and storing profile and Favorites-related app data
- Data shared: Internal account/session identifiers, profile information such as display name and age, selected preferences such as lowercase mode, favorite verse IDs, seen/streak data, and sharing metadata such as share ID, share title, and display name snapshot
- Privacy policy: https://supabase.com/privacy
Apple App Store
- Purpose: Payment processing for subscriptions
- Data shared: Payment information and purchase history handled through Apple
App Store refund requests (consumption information)
If you request a refund for an in-app purchase through Apple, Apple may ask developers for information about how the purchase was used. As described in our Terms of Use (including Section 7.5), your use of the App includes consent for us to provide Apple (including through Adapty where applicable) with limited, refund-related information such as: time since app installation, approximate app usage, an anonymous account or profile identifier used for subscriptions, whether the purchase included a trial, subscription status signals, and totals related to spend and refunds, as permitted by Apple's App Store Server API and our service providers' documentation. This information is used to help Apple evaluate refund requests fairly and is not used for cross-app advertising.
International data transfers
Some of our third-party service providers, including Adapty and Supabase, may process data in the United States or in other countries outside the European Union or European Economic Area that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home country.
Where required by applicable law, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission, or other mechanisms permitted under the GDPR. You may request more information about these safeguards by contacting us at sos@nocapbible.com.
Data retention
- Account and cloud data: We retain onboarding, profile, Favorites, sharing, and related cloud data for as long as needed to provide the App's features, unless you request deletion earlier.
- Local data: Data stored on your device remains until you uninstall the app or clear app data.
- Shared content: If you enable public sharing, shared Favorites data may remain available until you disable sharing or request deletion.
- Support messages: Information you send to us for support may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve your request and maintain support records.
Data security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission
- Secure storage practices for data on our servers
- Regular security assessments and updates
- Limited access to personal data by authorized personnel only
However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent: Withdraw consent for data processing where we rely on consent
- Object: Request that we stop processing your personal data where we rely on legitimate interests as our legal basis, if you believe your rights and freedoms outweigh those interests.
- Restrict: Request that we temporarily limit how we use your personal data while a dispute about accuracy or lawfulness is resolved.
- Supervisory authority: You have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country of residence. In the EU, you can find your local authority via the European Data Protection Board member list at https://edpb.europa.eu/about-edpb/board/members_en.
To exercise these rights, please contact us at the email address provided below.
How to request deletion
You can request deletion of your cloud-stored personal data and disable public sharing by contacting us at the email address below. Please include enough information for us to identify your request and your account or shared link, if applicable.
Deleting the App from your device removes future access on that device, but does not by itself guarantee deletion of cloud-stored data, shared content, or subscription records maintained by us or our service providers.
Children's privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.
Push notifications
The app uses local push notifications to deliver affirmations based on your preferences. These notifications are:
- Scheduled locally on your device
- Based on the categories and preferences you select
- Completely optional and can be disabled at any time through the app settings or device settings
- Not used to send marketing messages or advertisements
Tracking and advertising
The App does not use third-party advertising, cross-app tracking for targeted advertising, or Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If that changes in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and our App Store privacy disclosures before those practices are used.
Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:
- Posting the new Privacy Policy in the app
- Updating the "Last Updated" date
- Sending you a notification (if required by law)
Your continued use of the app after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
